Millions of people across the UK are currently eligible for the affordable warmth (or HHCRO) objective. These households can now benefit from free home energy efficiency improvements.

Under new ECO funding, customers who qualify for the Affordable Warmth Objective can now apply for certain free energy efficiency improvements. The range of services available includes free boiler replacements, free cavity wall insulation and free loft insulation.
This scheme is aimed at low income households. It offers funding to help to improve the energy efficiency of properties. This funding also helps to reduce energy bills and carbon emissions.
Check out the flowchart on the left to see if you qualify for the affordable warmth objective.
What can you do if you do not qualify for the Affordable Warmth Objective? Well, the ECO scheme also offers help for ‘Hard To Treat’ properties. So, as one example, a property with narrow cavities which are difficult to insulate, could benefit under the scheme.
The property needs to meet two fundamental requirements:
a) That each elevation of the property is checked using a boroscope in at least one place;
b) And, if any one wall has a narrow cavity between 40-49mm.
If the property does meet these requirements, under the ECO scheme it will qualify for FREE cavity wall and loft insulation.
What is HHCRO?
The Home Heating Cost Reduction Obligation (HHCRO) funding provides energy-saving grants. It is available to low income and vulnerable households. These households are least able to heat their homes to an adequate standard.
Recipients of benefits and tax credits may be eligible to receive this support. HHCRO funding is targeted at a similar group of households identified through the CERT Super Priority Group. One additional restriction is that only properties in private tenures will be eligible.
